A Pyrite specimen from a town well known as the birth place of Mark Twain and as the setting for Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer. The specimen consist of two spherical clusters of Pyrite crystals and perched on a mass of much smaller crystals in a curved elongated shape composed of connected spherical aggregates. The largest crystal is 9 mm along the longest edge. The Pyrite has a bright metallic luster. Specimens from the quarry and the other limestone quarries around Hannibal are rarely available. Since there have been working quarries in the area for over 100 years, it can be presumed they are rarely found. The specimen is in very good condition with no appreciable damage.
