Mineral Specimen #324 Albite variety: Pericline with Epidote
Fazenda Rubin Pimenta Mine, Capelinha, Jequitinhonha valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil
This is a very attractive specimen of white Albite crystals. Pericline is the name used for Albitre crystals of a long thin habit. This specimen exhibits one predominate crystal which is the perfect example. The crystal measures 2.9 x 12.9 x 0.5 cm. Setting off the white Pericline are Epidote crystals which vary from a dark green to a pstachio green. The specimen is in very condition. The base of the main crystal looks as if a portion has cleaved away; however, close examintion with a loupe reveals crystal surfaces which may be due to additional growth after the cleavage formed.
6.8 x 4.4 x 6.3 cm
