Mineral Specimen #3072    Chamosite Pseudomorph after Almandine with Magnetite Crystals

Spurr Mine, Imperial Heights, Baraga Co., Michigan, USA

Two conjoined Almandine garnet crystals have pseudomorphed to Chamosite. The crystals are well formed with sharp edges and flat faces and a good luster; much better than is usually seen for this material from this location. Ther are also some small silvery Magneite crystals scattered across the surface of the specimen. The specimen is in good condition with a couple of incomplete corners. Most of the Magentite crystal are incomplete.
