Mineral Specimen #3031 Scheelite, Calcite, Fluorite
near Tucson, Pima Co., Arizona
Collected 1975 or earlier; Fluoresces under SW
A rough piece of massive material which under SW UV has Scheelite which fluoresces bright blue and Calcite which fluoresces red. During World War II there was enough Scheelite scattered on the desert floor outside of Tucson, that prospectors would collect pieces using portable UV lamps. The price at the time was quite high due to the high demand for the war effort. Also present is purple colored Fluorite.
