Mineral Specimen #3010    Quartz with Calcite and Pyrite

Nanisivik Mine, Nanisivik, Baffin Island, Nunavut Territory, Canada

Ex. A. E. Seaman Museum, Ex. Lance Hampel

A large, double terminated Quartz crystal with a complex habit. The crystal is quite large for the location. The color ranges from milky white to light smoky. In some areas, the surface is covered with a thin layer of micro Calcite crystals. Pyrite is also present in a few places. The specimen is in fairly good condition with the exception of a conchoidal break at the base of one of the terminations which exposes the clarity of the interior (visible in the third photo).

12 x 7.8 x 6.4 cm
