Mineral Specimen #2983    Double Terminated Quartz and Specular Hematite on Botryoidal Hematite

Florence Mine, Egremont, Cumberland, Cumbria, England

Small double terminated Quartz crystals cover one end of this specimen. Many of the crystals are clear with a few being opaque white in the middle. The Quartz crystals have a very high glassy luster. The specular Hematite is composed of tightly packed small blades which also have a high luster and are black in color. Both the Quartz and the specular Hematite have grown on reniform Hematite giving the overall shape of the specimen a rounded knob shape. The specimen is in very good condition with no appreciable damage.
