Mineral Specimen #2944 Smithsonite
Kelly Mine, Magdalena, Socorro Co., New Mexico
This specimen exhibits the beautiful green / blue color for which the Kelly Mine is noted. The Smithsonite has a very high luster which along with the vibrant color makes a very beautiful specimen. he Smithsonite is found on one larger surface and on one end. The habit varies from botryoidal on the larger surface to rounded crystals on the end. There is also a small area with an earthy surface which also exhibits the same vibrant color. And although the blue Smithsonite does not cover the entire surface, it is in very good condition with just minor breakage along some of its edges.
