This cabochon has been cut from a red colored conglomerate that was the primary ore for the C&H Lode from which millions of pounds of Copper were extracted. The exact mine is not known, but this looks like material from the Kingston mine; slabs of which were available in the past. The cabochon has a good polish which is difficult to achieve since the Copper gums up the polishing wheels. Cabochons of this material are quite rare.
