Mineral Specimen #2834 Andradite Garnet variety Demantoid
Green Fire Mine, San Benito Co., California
Ex. Steve Pullman, Ex. California Academy of Sciences, Collected 1986
Mint green colored Andradite garnets are found on two sides of this specimen. The surface of the crystals has a high luster which gives the specimen a sparkly appearance. There is also a flat side of Serpentine with small unidentified octahedral crystals (this might be Chromite). The specimen is in very good condition with no appreciable damage. When I found this specimen in the Pullman collection, it was covered with rusty iron oxides which were removed with a few soakings in Ironout. The specimen is in very good condition with no appreciable damage.
