Mineral Specimen #2780 Mordenite 'The Porcupine'
Cape D'Or, Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia
Ex. A. E. Seaman Museum
A rounded aggregate of radiating thin needle like crystals of Mordenite. The color is an orange tinted tan (a little more orange in person compared to the photos). The first picture reminds me of a Porcupine which there are common in Nova Scotia. From the cliffs along the Bay of Fundy which is noted for having the worlds highest tides. The specimen is in good condition. Please note: due to the nature of these crystals, an occasional crystal fragment can be shed. All precaution will be taken when shipping, but a couple fragments may come loose in transit. Although purchased from the Seaman Museum, there is no museum label.
5.4 x 3.7 x 2.6 cm
