Mineral Specimen #2568    Copper Crystals

Central Mine, Central, Keweenaw County, Michigan, USA

A group of curved, distorted, spinel twin Copper crystals. The overall structure of the specimen has an organic aspect. Two distinct groupings of crystals upward from a natural base. The specimen looks as if it was cleaned relatively recently, perhaps several years ago and was likely collected at the same time from the dumps of the Central mine. These dumps are now off limits to field collectors and are being crushed and hauled away to be used as road foundation.
