Mineral Specimen #2439    Datolite Nodule

Drexel Mine, Delaware, Keweenaw Co., Michigan

3.3 x 2.8 x 1.1 cm

Sold

Ex. Seaman Mineral Museum

A light colored Datolite with red speckling due to the inclusion of micro Copper. The red speckles are in swirl like patterns and have a rosy pink color. Please note: the red speckles are more pronounced in the photos than in real life. The nodule has a curved surface which has a very high polish and no cracks. Although this mine closed in 1874, there are still some small dumps where specimens can still be recovered.
