Mineral Specimen #230 Rubellite Tourmaline (Elbaite) in Quartz with Lepidolite
Haapaluoma pegmatite, Peraseinajoki, Vaasa, Lansi-Suomen Laani, Finland
This is a seldom seen location for Tourmaline; the only other specimen I have ever seen was a thumbnail. The color of the Rubellite is quite rich, but none of the crystals are terminated. The associated Lepidolite is a nice deep purple color. There is some gray Feldspar which is probably Albite. A flat Feldspar crystal face on the bottom makes a perfect base (at first glance, I thought the specimen had been sawn).
