Ex. MacKay School of Mines, Ex. Steve Pullman

Two different generations of Calcite with differing habits can be found on this specimen. The largest crystal is twinned and is perched upon a bed of smaller, cubic crystals. The largest crystal has Hematite crystals both on its surface and included within. The included Hematite is a reddish color and the micro crystals on the surface are a dark, metallic gray. The Calcite rests on Quartz which has bands of gray, red/orange and white. The orange material is a bit chalky in texture and botryoidal in places. There is also some darker red material which would be considered a Jasper. The specimen is in fairly good condition, but there is some bruising of the Calcite, most notably, the edge of the largest crystals.
