Mineral Specimen  #208 Sulfur

El Desierto mine, San Pablo de Napa, Daniel Campos Province, Potosí Department, Bolivia

Although Sulfur specimens from this mine were abundant a few years ago; the mine, according to the person who imported them into U.S., has now closed due to a massive fire. This particular specimen was purchased from the importer when I was visiting him a few years ago. It was from a small lot he had left of some of the better specimens. The crystals are well-formed, with high luster, and bright canary yellow and relatively large. The matrix is masssive gypsum. There is now damage with the exception of one crystal on the very edge (the one which projects out to the left side near the top) which does not distract from the specimens attractiveness.

6.8 x 5.8 x 1.7 cm

$50                                                                                                                                                               50-99
