A stout stalactite of Marcasite in remarkably good condition. The surface is composed of a multitude of micro crystals which gives it a velvety appearance. At the top, is a spherical group of larger crystals. This is from a collection assembled in the 1960s in suburban Detroit. But the specimen is likely much older since the Galena district was active in the early 1900s. The specimen was glued onto a styrofoam base some of which still remains on the bottom. The specimen is in excellent condition with no appreciable damage.
