Mineral Specimen  #201 Double-Terminated Bi-Color Tourmaline (Elbaite)

Minas Gerais, Brazil

This Tourmalinehas has two completely different terminations, one flat and the other a point composed of a multitude of  faces. The Tourmaline is a pretty, bright, light green color with a rose pink tip and just a very thin layer of pink at the flat termination. The color of the terminations is more pronounced the closer it is to a light and  in these pictures since all were shot with the specimen backlit (with the exception of the third photo0. The specimen is virtually damage free with the exception of a few internal fractures perpidicular to the C axis which is common in Tourmalines. This is from the Alan Bohne collection and purchased in the 1970s.
