Mineral Specimen #182Stilbite
Moore's Station, Hopewell Township, Mercer County, New Jersey, USA
Ex. Philadelphia Academy of Sciences
This came from a small lot of Philadelphia Academy specimens I purchased from Collector's Edge which unfortunately did not have the museum's cards. There is also no ascension number on the specimen. There was a badly deteriorated piece of paper with "Stilbite Moore's Station" written on it. At the Springfield show, John Betts told me it was collected in 1924 by Sam Gordan the mineralogist at the Academy at the time. There are other specimen from the same collecting trip now posted on www.mindat.org. This specimen has quite nice color. The side with the better coverage has very little damage. The other side actually has a more vibrant color, but there are bruised areas.
