Black Schorl crystals composed of a multitude of very small fibrous sub crystals cover much of one side of this Quartz crystal. The base of the Schorl crystals appear to be embedded at a shallow depth in the Quartz. The Quartz crystal is a bit unusual. Most of the interior is a fairly gemmy gray brown. But the very outer surface, about a mm thick, is a milky white color. The specimen is in fairly good condition. There is one small section where some of the outer white layer has chipped away. Also, some of the Schorl has a powdery white substance on it.
