Mineral Specimen #175 Aquamarine, Tourmaline (Schorl)

Erongo Mountain, Usakos and Omaruru Districts, Erongo Region, Namibia

This is a very nice combination of Aquamarine and Tourmaline  on etched Feldspar. The color contrast of the blue with the black and white is striking. The crystals of Aquamarine and Tourmaline are of similar size and create a balanced composition. There are little Tourmalines on the termination of the very gemmy hexagonal Aquamarine. This crystal is 1.5 cm long and .6 cm in diamter and the top half is very clear as are the smaller crystals. There are also some unidentified small brown earthy crystals on the base of one of the smaller Aquamarines.
