Mineral Specimen #172 Spessartine Garnet and Fluorite
Tongbei, Fujian, China
Fluorite is only rarely found with the Speesartine from this location. At first, it seemed the Fluorite was the cleaved remains of a larger crystal, but under closer examination, growth faces forming a pattern of overlapping traingles can be seen on the main face. The Fluorite has an internal cleave (visible in the last two photos). There is also some Smoky Quartz on the specimen and a minor coating of what appears to be Pyrite on the Fluorite.
