Mineral Specimen #1663    Petrified Wood

Montana

This specimen of petrified wood is likely from the Creatacous period. It is almost white with darker sections and looks very much like old bleached wood which can be found in a desert. The white scections appear to be softer than the darker sections. There are well defined growth rings in the darker sections.
