Mineral Specimen #159 Copper Wire Crystal on Prehnite
Osceola Mine, Osceola, Houghton County, Michigan, USA
This specimen definitely reminds one of a snake rising up; an effect enhanced by the green of the Prehnite. The specimen has been acid cleaned and sealed to perserve the luster. The Osceola Mine originally opened in 1873 and was one of the last Copper mines in the Keweenaw peninsula to close in 1968. There were a total of 11 shafts.
