Copper Falls Mine, Copper Falls, near Eagle Harbor, Keweenaw County, Michigan, USA
The Copper in this specimen formed when vesicles in the Basalt were filled with Copper. Essentailly, these amygdules are Copper casts of a Basalt vesicles. The Copper Falls Mine was opened in 1844 and closed in 1898. It is one of the earliest mines in the Keweenaw Peninsula and primarily worked fissure deposits; however amygdloid basalts deposits were also encounter.
