Mineral Specimen #154 Mohawkite and Quartz

Mohawk-Ahmeek area, Keweenaw County, Michigan, USA, Michigan, USA

Mohawkite is a mix of Algodonite (Cu6As), Domeykite (Cu3As) and Arsenic bearing Copper (and possibly other species including Nickel compunds). Named after the Mohawk Mine where it was first discovered. In recent years, ti has become more dificult to obtain. It makes nice lapidary material. This specimen has been polished on one side (both sides are depicted in the photos).
