Mineral Specimen #152 Copper Wire Crystal on Calcite
Osceola Mine, Osceola, Houghton County, Michigan, USA
A unique Copper wire specimen with a distinct eye similar to a fishhook. The specimen has been cleaned in acid and then sealed to perserve the copper color. The Osceola Mine originally opened in 1873 and was the one of the last Copper mines in the Keweenaw peninsula to close in 1968. There were a total of 11 shafts. Note: the bit of blue is just a little mineral underneth the Calcite.
