Mineral Specimen #1482    Bicolor Beryl (Aquamarine and Morganite)

Galileia, Doce valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil

A single wide, flattened, hexagonal crystal of beryl which has pale tints of blue and pink. The crystal faces are will formed and flat with a high luster. Three sides and part of the termination shows casts of a bladed mineral (most likely Albite). There are also a few small inclusions of Tourmaline. Also, on the surface is a small piece of lustrous black material possibly some type of oxide. There is also some small Mica crystals along the edge of the cast on the termination. Although opaque within the interior, the outer 2mm of the sides of the specimen are very clear. The specimen is in very good condition with the exception of the casts and the point of attachment on the bottom.
