Mineral Specimen #141 Vivianite and Pyrite on Quartz

Cigana Claim, Galiléia, Doce valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil

This Vivianite specimen is unusual in that it is in association with Pyrite. The Pyrite has an irridescent rainbow-like halo around the Vivianite crystal. The Vivianite is a nice teal color exhibiting both green and blue tints. The Vivianite and Pyrite have both grown on a Quartz crystal which is a double-terminated, lop-sided, tabular crystal (see last photo for backside of specimen).
