Mineral Specimen #1349 Emerald and Schorl Tourmaline in Quartz
Malipo Co., Wenshan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China
Long thin Emerald crystals in a white Quartz matrix. There are slender needle like crystals of black Schorl also present. The Emeralds are a medium colored green and are opaque. There are a number of pegmatites in the area in which the Emeralds occur. The pegmatites are mined for tungsten which is mostly found in the form of Scheelite. The Emerald crystals are without terminations.
