Mineral Specimen #1340 Fluorapatite, Fluorite, Apatite, Augite
Cardiff Uranium Mine, Cardiff Township, Haliburton County, Ontario, Canada
This is material that is seldom seen for sale and was collected in the late 1970s. Vivid purple Fluorite mixed with light peach colored Calcite with an Apatite crystal. The Apatite crystal is large for the location, an attractivr olive color with a high luster. The surface of the Apatite crystal has a melted appearance which is typical for Apatite specimens from the general region. The Apatite is not terminated and shows some internal fractures. Apparently, the color of the Fluorite is enhanced by its long exposure to radiation. That being said, the specimen does not register on a geiger counter.
