Mineral Specimen #1324 Zoned Fluorite Octahedron with included Chalcopyrite
Cave-In-Rock, Hardin County, Illinois
This is not a natural crystal, but rather a cleavage of a larger cubic crystal. The result is a regular octahedron with 8 sides. All of the sides are the same length and the corners all have the same angle. This cleavage is very clean in that the faces are quite flat and the faces are very regular. The color is purple with section of light yellow/amber. From different angles, there are some interesting color combinations along the cubic crystal structure. Along the edges of the iternal cubic structrures there are also inclusions of bright Chalcopyrite.
