Mineral Specimen #1317 Siderite, Dolomite, Pyrohottite and Cubanite
Morro Velho mine, Nova Lima, Iron Quadrangle, Minas Gerais, Brazil
This specimen is composed primarily of large bladed crystals of green/brown colored Sideite crystals. These crystals are curved and have striated faces. Mixed in with the Siderite are white bladed Dolomite crystals. At one end of the specimen, there is metallic brown massive Pyrohottite. On some of the Dolomite blades can be found micro crystals of Cubanite which are in elongated cubic form. The Siderite of this specimen are fairly good condtion with a few breaks on a few of the crystals. Some of the Dolomite crystals are broken and the Pyrhottite is a litlly crumbly.
