Mineral Specimen #1309    Gillespite with Sanbornite and probable Anandite

Esquire No. 7 claim, Big Creek, Rush Creek deposit, Big Creek-Rush Creek District, Fresno Co., California, USA

BaFe2+[Si4O10 with Ba2(Si4O10) and probable (Ba,K)(Fe2+,Mg)3((Si,Al,Fe)4O10)(S,OH)2

The Gillespite is all of the red material. This is a very rare phyllosilicate found at only a few locations in the world. The black material is very likely Ananite, but this was not included on the label. The Sanbornite makes up the rest of the matrix along with massive Quartz.
