Mineral Specimen #1286    Rubyjack Sphalerite on Galena with probable Greenockite

Joplin, Missouri, USA

Small gemmy, shiney, reddish brown Sphalerite crystals coat much of this Galena specimen. The Galena has a complex growth pattern. On one side of the specimen, there are areas coated with micro green crystals. These are most likely Greenockite - CdS - (the specimen has not been analysized). The specimen is in fairly good condition with the exception of some small cleavage breaks on a few of the Galena surfaces. Ex. Les Wilson collection.

4.3 x 4.3 x 2.3 cm
