Mineral Specimen #1247 Prehnite Cast after Laumonite
Lane & Sons Traprock quarries, Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts, USA
Repaired
A finger shaped specimen of Prehnite which formed around a Laumonite crystal. The Laumonite is no longer present leaving a hollow interior. The color is a very vibrant light green. The surfaces of the crystals have a high luster which gives the specimen a sparkly appearance. The specimen has been glued back together about 1/3 of the way down from the termination. This repair is more obvious in person; there is a section where some of the crack is about 1 mm wide. There is some brusing of a few of the crystals near the repair. The termination is in excellent condition with no damage. Even with the repair, this is a very attractive and unique specimen.
