Mineral Specimen #1224 Specular Hematite on Quartz covered with Calcite

Prior to 1975
Quartz crystals coated with black Hematite which in turn is coated with small, clear crystals of Calcite. In person, this specimen has a great deal of sparkle. There is a stalacltic formation of Quartz which has broken off revealing a reddish brown growth ring which is also likely to be Hematite. With the exception of the broken stalactite, the specimen is in very good condition.
