Mineral Specimen #1209    Rhodochrosite Stalactite

Capillitas Mine, Andalgala Department, Catamarca, Argentina

A stalactite of Rhodochrosite which consists of concentric growth rings with an outer layer of bladed crystals which are in turn covered with some type of small sulfide crystals. The color varies from pink to salmon. There is a bit of damage to some of the crystals. The end has been polished and has a good luster as do the faces of the crystals.
