Mineral Specimen #117    Lilac Amethyst cast after Anhydrite

Planalto, Alto Uruguai region, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil

This is an unusual specimen. The Quartz is mounded up where it grew upon the Anhydrite crystals. In the interior, thin fins of Quartz formed between the Anhydrite bladed crystals. The Amethyst crystals appear damage free.
