Mineral Specimen #105 Spessartine Garnet on Smoky Quartz

Tongbei, Fujian, China

Now that this location is no longer producing, these are destined to become classics. The Spessartines are a nice bright orange. The smoky quartz is clear at the base beneth the Spessartines. This can best be seen in the fourth picture. This picture shows the side with the least amount of Spessartine crystals with a light source behind the specimen. When backlit like this, the Quartz glows orange from the color transmitted by the Spessartines on the opposite side. In the last picture, one can see a few small Spessartines included in the Quartz which is not that common.

7 x 2.5 x 2 cm
