Mineral Specimen #5144 Polymignite (Zirconolite)
Stalaker Quarry, Stslaker, Tjolling, Larvik, Vestfold, Norway
4.3 x 3.3 x 1.9 cm
1.7 x 1.3 x 0.7 in
Black colored crystals of Polymignite in a Quartz matrix. There is one well formed crystal on the edge of the specimen. Polymignite is now considered a variety of Zirconolite which is a bit poblematic because Polymignite was first described in 1829 and Zirconolite was not described until 1956. Yet Polymingite was discredited in 1989.
Condition: Fairly Good
Flaws: Only one of the crystals is intact and is not complete.
