Mineral Specimen #4566 Selenite on Calcite with Azurite
Laurion, Attica, Greece
8.1 x 6.7 x 4.8 cm
3.2 x 2.6 x 1.9 in
Ex. Dave Shannon
A mass of bladed Selenite crystals over Calcite with a layer of Malachite and Azurite between the two. The Selenite ranges in color from white/clear to an orange/brown color. The color of the Calcite is blend of pink/orange/brown. There is an unidentified yellow material on the surface of the Selenite at one end of the specimen. I originally bought this specimen as part of some mine run flats from Laurion from Colleen Shannon a few months after Dave Shannon passed away. Kirk Valuet bought the specimen from me at the Detroit show and came back into my position in 2008 when I bought Kirk's collection. An interesing location specimen.
Condition: Fairly Good
Flaws: The Selenite crystals are bruised and the terminations bent.
