Montreal Mine, Gogebic Range, Iron Co., Wisconsin, USA

A small, spherical, aggreagte of Calcite crystals for which this mine is noted. The color is a pastel pink with orange shades. This specimen is from a classic location. The Montreal Mine was opened in the late 1800s and closed in 1963. According to the website for the city of Montreal, it was the world's deepest Iron Mine at 4337 feet.
