Mineral Specimen #972    Magnetite on Dolomite

New Idria District, Diablo Range, San Benito Co., California, USA

Black octahedral crystals of Magnetite contrast nicely against snow white Dolomite crystals. The Magnetite crystals are 2 to 3 mm across. Both minerals have a high luster making for an attractive specimen. The specimen is in fairy good condition although there are areas of damage. The specimen is likely from near the famous Benitoite location. Note: there are three small patches of glue and what appears to be corkboard on the bottom of the specimen.

9.1 x 7.1 x 4.8 cm
