Mineral Specimen #966 Celestine with Crinoid Stem and Calcite
Findlay Arch, Ohio
Apparently, the Celestine crystals have grown attached to what appear to be small Crinoid stem fossils. This specimen is from some material collected by a couple (now deceased) from suburban Detroit in the 1960s (the specimens were wrapped in papers from the early 60s). The Celestine has formed a series of terminated, parallel crystals. No location was recorded, but the habit is clearly from the Findlay arch, which means the location is likely northern Ohio or possibly one of the limestone quarries in southeastern Michigan. The specimen is in very good condition with a few internal fractures and a very small amount of wear to a couple of the Celestine terminations.
