Mineral Specimen #894    Rhodochrosite, Hubnerite and Quartz

Pasto Bueno District, Pallasca Province, Ancash Department, Peru

This is an interesting specimen of Rhodochrosite combined with Hubnerite. The Rhodochrosite ired to dark pink in color. The Hubnerite is a dark reddish brown; although, the thinnest Hubnerite crystal when viewed at the right angle is quite red. There is a bit of damage to the specimen with the Rhodochrosite worn on the edges, the Hubnerite crystal in the center is broken at the termination and the Quartz crystal is broken.
