Mineral Specimen #876 Grossular Garnet variety: Hessonite on Diopside
Jeffrey Quarry, Asbestos, Les Sources RCM, Estrie, Quebec, Canada
Relatively large Hessonite crystals with a rich deep color on a bed of small gemmy, light olive colored Diopside crystals. The Hessonite crystals are quite gemmy, more noticeably on the smaller crystals. The larger crystals have highly striated faces which prevents the gemminess from showing. Both the Hessonite and the Diopside have a very high luster. The specimen is in very good condition with the exception of one crystal being broken on the side (seen in the 3rd photo, the lower of the 2 crystals on the right side).
