Mineral Specimen #716    Manganoan Calcite

El Mochito Mine, El Mocho, Santa Barbara Department, Honduras

Fluorescent LW and SW

It is unusual to see a fluorescent mineral from Honduras. The color of this Calcite specimen in visble light is a very pleasing pink. Under longwave and shortwave, it exhibits a vivid orange color. There is a secondary mineral which fluoresces a light blue (and appears as white under visible light). The specimen is in fairly good condition with some cleaving on the termination of two of the crysals.
