Mineral Specimen #712 Chrome Grossular Garnet, Chromite on Calcite
Orford Nickel mine, St-Denis-de-Brompton, Sherbrooke County, Quebec, Canada
The Grossular Garnet on this specimen is composed of extremely small, micro crystals which are a vivid green caused by chromium in its composition. Mixed in with the garnet, are small, lustrous crystals of black Chromite. The specimen came from an old Chromium mine in Quebec and was formerly in an old collection from suburban Detroit. The specimen is in good condition.
