Mineral Specimen #698 Clinochlore variety: Kammererite with Uvarovite Garnet

Kammererite is the Chromium bearing variety of Clinchlore. In this specimen, the Kammererite is found in thin, bladed crystals. Associated with the Kammererite is a crust of very small micro crystals of Uvarovite, the Garnet species with Chromium in its composition. This is old material from one of the small Chromite mines in the area which were active in the first part of the 20th century. It is likely the specimen is from the Martin Mine.
