Mineral Specimen #687 Wulfenite
Defiance Mine, Gleeson, Dragoon Mts, Cochise Co., Arizona, USA
This specimen consists of a mass of interlocked crystals with just one small patch of matrix. The last two photos are backlit to show the lack of matrix. Although there is basically no matrix, the specimen is quite sturdy. The color is yellow with a touch of brown, with some places having a hint of green and on the edges of the crystals there is a bit of orange. The crystals have a high luster and range from translucent to transparent. Although there are a couple of broken blades, the specimen is in generally good condition. Formerly owned by Les Wilson of suburban Detroit.
